Trust Centre

AI Transparency Centre.

Clinical Confidence uses AI to support professional thinking, never to decide. This page explains what that means in practice today, during the Private Alpha.

AI participation during the Private Alpha

AI-supported features are part of what the Private Alpha is testing. Participants take part in AI-supported features as a condition of joining the Alpha, so there is no per-feature opt-out during this period. If you do not want your professional record used this way, the Private Alpha is not the right time to join.

AI suggests. You decide. Compass provides guidance and navigation suggestions. It cannot create, edit or delete your professional records. Any governed record change requires a separate practitioner-triggered review and approval process.

In short

Compass uses a limited summary of your own professional record, including totals, status and category information, current-period figures, up to five recent CPD titles and limited context about the page or record you are viewing. It does not send your Reflection text, CPD notes or descriptions, provider details, uploaded files or Evidence contents to the AI provider. Do not include client or patient information in CPD titles or record labels. Compass suggests; it cannot change your records.

What Clinical Confidence reads locally

To prepare a Compass summary, Clinical Confidence loads your own professional records in your authenticated browser session. Your access remains restricted to your own records. The app reduces that information to a limited, structured summary before contacting the AI provider.

  • Your CPD activities
  • Your Reflections
  • Your Evidence items
  • Your Learning Goals
  • Your profile
  • Your intelligence proposals

What is sent to the AI provider

The summary may include CPD counts and hours, current-period figures, category and status breakdowns, completion information, the number of Reflections, Goals and Evidence items, waiting-suggestion counts, up to five recent CPD titles, and limited context about the page or record you are viewing.

  • CPD totals, hours and current-period figures
  • Category and status breakdowns
  • Up to five recent CPD activity titles
  • Reflection counts and status summaries — not Reflection text
  • Learning Goal counts and status summaries — not Goal titles
  • Evidence counts and category summaries — not Evidence content
  • Profile completion signals — not your full profile fields
  • Portfolio completion
  • Waiting-suggestion counts and limited import-history signals
  • Capability names and counts from your existing proposals
  • Your CPD period label, its activity/hour totals and your profession pack's required hours
  • A short list of signal names that could not be read, so Compass can say a figure is unavailable
  • The page you are on, and the type, identifier and label of the record you have open
  • A document's title and text only where you have explicitly shared one with Compass; nothing is shared automatically

What is not sent to Compass

The AI provider is not sent your Reflection text, CPD descriptions or notes, provider details, Goal titles, uploaded files, Evidence-file contents or another practitioner's records.

  • Reflection body text
  • CPD descriptions
  • CPD notes
  • CPD provider or source details
  • Learning Goal titles
  • Uploaded files
  • Evidence-file contents
  • Any other practitioner's records

Do not enter client information

Clinical Confidence is not designed for client or patient information. During the Private Alpha, do not enter identifying information into CPD titles, record labels or any other field. Limited titles and page context may be included in the summary sent to the AI provider.

What Compass can do

Compass provides guidance and navigation suggestions. It cannot create, edit or delete your professional records. Any governed record change requires a separate practitioner-triggered review and approval process.

Which provider processes the summary

Compass currently uses OpenAI's gpt-5-mini model through our intelligence service, with a capped prompt size. The bounded summary described above is therefore processed overseas, including in the United States.

What AI does not do

  • It does not create, edit or delete records in your professional record.
  • It does not submit, publish, share or file anything on your behalf.
  • It does not certify compliance with any registration board.
  • It does not make clinical, ethical or professional judgements.
  • It does not decide compliance, renewal readiness or professional competence.
  • It cannot read another practitioner's records.

Uploaded files during the Private Alpha

Bring Everything is restricted during the Private Alpha. Where it is available, uploading a file places it in a private import review queue. It does not become CPD or Evidence until you explicitly approve it. No OCR, no handwriting recognition, no automatic detection of identifying information and no malware scanning are performed. Do not upload documents containing client or patient information.

The Author Principle

The professional whose name is on a reflection is the author of that reflection. AI can suggest phrasing; the words that sit in your record are yours to accept, edit or reject. We will never present AI-generated text as though a human wrote it.

The Coaching Principle

AI in Clinical Confidence behaves like a thoughtful colleague, not an autopilot. It asks useful questions, surfaces things you might have missed, and steps back the moment you take over.

Human review

AI-assisted content is marked so you know where a suggestion came from:

AI assisted this suggestion. Please review before accepting.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AI provider see my whole record?

No. Your full records are loaded in your own authenticated browser session. Only the bounded summary described above is sent to the AI provider.

Can AI decide whether my CPD is compliant?

No. Compliance is a decision for you and your registration board.

Can I turn AI off?

Not during the Private Alpha. AI participation is part of joining the Alpha. You can always decline or ignore any individual suggestion, and nothing is written to your record unless you do it yourself.

Where is the summary processed?

Overseas, including in the United States, by our AI provider. We do not make claims about that provider's retention or model-training settings that we have not verified.
